Detroit - May 19, 2019: After ten years of "improper management" of its complex network, Delta Air Lines announced today its intent for Summer 2020 to shift upwards of 300 daily roundtrips from its base and largest hub in Atlanta to its second-largest hub in Detroit. Overall, DL will go from around 500 departures a day out of DTW in peak Summer to nearly 800 while cutting ATL down to around 750 daily departures by Summer 2020. "Atlanta will still be slightly larger with a higher percentage of flights being on mainline, but this is just the beginning of unlocking the potential of Detroit for us," comments Chief Operating Officer Paul Hayes Johnson of Delta.
